Valley National Bancorp agrees to acquire digital small-business platform Bluevine for $340 million.

Valley National Bancorp agreed to acquire digital small-business banking platform Bluevine for about $340 million in a transaction expected to be funded roughly 75% in cash and 25% in Valley stock. Bluevine serves about 175,000 small-business customers and has generated approximately $2.1 billion in digital deposits, which Valley says will strengthen its funding base and expand its nationwide small-business banking business. The acquisition will also bring roughly 180 technology, product, engineering and AI professionals to Valley, supporting its digital strategy. Valley expects the deal to add about 8% to estimated 2028 earnings per share, including synergies, and anticipates closing in early 2027, subject to regulatory approval and other customary conditions.
Bluevine’s platform-generated deposits grew at an approximately 35% compound annual rate from 2023 through the second quarter of 2026.
Valley expects the transaction to dilute tangible book value by about 5% at closing, with an estimated earn-back period of roughly three years.
Bluevine’s platform offers small businesses a suite of services that includes business checking, payments, bill pay, invoicing, lending and financial-management tools.
The acquisition advances Valley’s existing technology-sector strategy: following its 2022 merger with Bank Leumi USA, Valley expanded its work with technology companies and venture-capital funds, including Israeli funds; buying Bluevine would bring a technology company’s capabilities directly into the bank.
