Nikola Jokić plans to re-sign with the Denver Nuggets next summer.

Nikola Jokić says he plans to re-sign with Denver next summer, describing his decision to delay an extension as a business matter and saying staying with the Nuggets matters to his legacy and championship ambitions. He could then qualify for a projected five-year contract worth about $360 million, while Denver’s ability to remain a contender will be important to its long-term outlook. Separately, the Nuggets are reportedly among the teams interested in signing recently waived guard Ryan Nembhard to a two-way contract, and they have signed Cam Whitmore to a two-way deal.
Jokić said he had discussed his plans with Nuggets executives Ben Tenzer, Jon Wallace and Josh Kroenke, and the team’s front office said it felt comfortable with the relationship and had “no concerns.”
Jokić has also described growing frustration with the demands of fame, saying he has become “short” and “ruder” with fans after years in the spotlight and values time away from public attention.
Waiting until 2027 would leave Jokić the option to decline his 2027–28 player option and become an unrestricted free agent, giving him a potential route to leave Denver if he chose.
