Nathan MacKinnon scores twice and fights as Colorado Avalanche defeat Los Angeles Kings

The Colorado Avalanche won their season opener 8-4 over the Los Angeles Kings in a game against the Kings, with Nathan MacKinnon scoring twice and a rare fight. The Avs' coach, Jared Bednar, received a four-year contract extension, ending speculation about his future after being swept by Vegas in the Western Conference finals last spring. The extension ends speculation on Bednar's future after he led Colorado to the 2022 Stanley Cup title.
