Toronto Michelin Guide Awards No New Stars While Adding Five Bib Gourmands

The five new Bib Gourmand recipients are Antylia and Golden Horseshoe Barbecue in Toronto, Les Incompetents in St. Catharines, RPM Bakehouse in Jordan, and The Lunch Lady of Saigon in Toronto.
The 11 restaurants newly added as Recommended are 156 ONEFIVESIX, Bar Allegro, Bar ARDO, Bar Eugenie, Liliana, LORE, oddBird, Pho Ngoc Yen, PUNCH, Revé and Takja.
Michelin’s special awards included the Young Chef Award for Andrew Golden, whose pandemic pop-up Golden Horseshoe Barbecue has since become a permanent restaurant in Toronto’s Seaton Village.
At Enigma Yorkville, new chef Zachary Barnes replaced founding executive chef Quinton Bennett and shifted the restaurant’s approach toward simpler cooking that emphasizes its ingredients; Barnes previously worked at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Daniel and Alo.
Restaurant Pearl Morissette’s continued prominence follows major recent accolades: it topped Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants list for two consecutive years and ranked No. 3 on North America’s 50 Best Restaurants list in June.
Toronto's 2026 Michelin Guide delivered no new stars, leaving the region's fine dining scene largely unchanged. Michelin kept Restaurant Pearl Morissette as the area's only two-star establishment and maintained 14 restaurants with one star. The guide added five Bib Gourmand spots and 11 Recommended restaurants, bringing the total selection to 111 establishments across 33 cuisines.
Two key changes mark the update: Hexagon in Oakville closed and was removed, while Aburi Hana lost its star. The guide also replaced its Green Star sustainability award with a Mindful Voices recognition, honoring chefs Aldo Camarena and Ashley McKay of Antylia for community leadership.
Michelin added five new Bib Gourmand designations, which recognize excellent food at moderate prices. The recipients include Antylia and Golden Horseshoe Barbecue in Toronto, Les Incompetents in St. Catharines, RPM Bakehouse in Jordan, and The Lunch Lady of Saigon in Toronto. These restaurants represent diverse cuisines and price points across the Greater Toronto Area.
Golden Horseshoe Barbecue's addition is particularly notable. Chef Andrew Golden launched the barbecue concept as a pandemic pop-up and recently converted it into a permanent restaurant in Seaton Village. Michelin awarded Golden the Young Chef Award for his entrepreneurial journey.
Two one-star restaurants retained their stars despite leadership changes. Enigma Yorkville hired new chef Zachary Barnes, who previously cooked at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Daniel, and Alo. Barnes shifted the restaurant toward simpler cooking that highlights ingredient quality. Restaurant 20 Victoria also brought in new leadership with Rafael Covarrubias after his former restaurant, Hexagon, closed.
These transitions show Michelin confidence in the restaurants' underlying concepts despite personnel changes. Retaining stars through leadership shifts is uncommon and signals strong kitchen depth at both establishments.
Restaurant Pearl Morissette in Niagara stands alone as Toronto's only two-star Michelin restaurant. The restaurant topped Canada's 100 Best Restaurants list for two straight years and ranked No. 3 on North America's 50 Best Restaurants list in June. This proven track record cements its position as the region's premier fine dining destination.
No new restaurants achieved two-star status in the 2026 guide, making Pearl Morissette's distinction even more exclusive. The one-star tier, with 14 restaurants, remains the guide's largest group of starred establishments in the region.
Michelin added 11 restaurants to its Recommended tier: 156 ONEFIVESIX, Bar Allegro, Bar ARDO, Bar Eugenie, Liliana, LORE, oddBird, Pho Ngoc Yen, PUNCH, Revé, and Takja. These additions span casual dining, cocktail bars, and ethnic cuisines, broadening the guide's scope beyond high-end fine dining.
The Recommended category serves diners seeking quality meals without pursuing Michelin stars. It now represents the guide's fastest-growing segment, reflecting Toronto's evolving restaurant culture and Michelin's expanded focus on dining accessibility.
