The Houston Dynamo blanked Sporting Kansas City 2-0 on Saturday, with Guilherme Santos and AgustÃn Bouzat each finding the net, according to Oskaloosa News. The result moves Houston to fourth place in the Western Conference with a 9-6-2 record.
Goalkeeper Jonathan Bond made four saves to keep the clean sheet. The Dynamo have now gone five straight games without a loss, Winnipeg Free Press reported.
Santos Makes MLS History With Standout Season
Santos did more than just score on Saturday. He became the ninth player in MLS history to score or assist on at least 17 of his club's first 25 goals in a season, according to Winnipeg Free Press. That is a rare feat that puts him in elite company across the league's history.
The Brazilian midfielder has been central to Houston's attack all season. His contributions — both goals and assists — have helped make the Dynamo one of the Western Conference's most dangerous teams in 2024, The Messenger noted.
Bouzat's Goal Seals a Dominant Win
AgustÃn Bouzat added the second goal to put the game out of reach. The Argentine winger has been a key piece of Houston's attack this season. His goal on Saturday gave the Dynamo a comfortable cushion and helped secure the shutout, HNG News reported.
Bond's four saves behind the defense were also crucial. Sporting KC could not break through despite their attempts. It was a complete performance for Houston on both ends of the field.
Houston Climbs to Fourth, Chases Real Salt Lake
The win pushed Houston to fourth place in the Western Conference. The Dynamo now sit just two points behind Real Salt Lake, which holds third place, according to Oskaloosa News. The gap is close enough that Houston could move up with another strong result.
Houston's 9-6-2 record shows a team that has found its footing after a mixed start to the season. With five unbeaten games in a row, the Dynamo are building momentum at a key point in the MLS campaign, Post Register noted.
