Recording Academy Confirms Asian Pop Music Category Will Proceed at 2027 Grammys

The Recording Academy has confirmed that its new best Asian pop music performance category will proceed at the 2027 Grammys. The announcement was made just 11 days before the start of first-round voting, which determines the final nominees. The academy had held discussions with artists, executives, and industry leaders representing the Asian music community over the past two months. The Academy cited community feedback and a robust number of submissions the category had received. However, it acknowledged that the category, like the other 99 categories on the ballot for the 2026 Grammys, is always subject to review. The first-off voting will begin on October 12 and final round voting will take place on Dec. 10 and Jan. 7.
