Paramount+ Becomes Exclusive Home for UFC Main Cards in Canada, Ending Pay-Per-View

Paramount and the UFC announced a six-year expansion of their media rights partnership that will make Paramount+ the exclusive home for all UFC Numbered Event main cards in Canada starting in 2027. Under the deal, Canadian Paramount+ subscribers will be able to watch 13 UFC Numbered Event main cards each year live at no additional cost, with the events typically featuring championship bouts and the promotion’s biggest stars. The announcement follows a broader UFC media rights partnership launched in 2025 that covers other regions, and both companies say Canada will now be brought into the same streaming-based model. For fans, the shift ends the current pay-per-view structure in Canada, where Numbered Event main cards cost $69.99 per purchase, replacing it with access through Paramount+ pricing tiers (the lowest listed at $7.99). Sportsnet and TVA in Quebec will continue to hold domestic rights for preliminary bouts on Numbered Event cards and for the 30 UFC Fight Night events each year. The UFC and Paramount say the first specific events to stream on Paramount+ in Canada will be announced later this year.
Paramount and the UFC said their earlier U.S. and Latin America launch of UFC on Paramount+ “drew over 10 million households” that watched “more than 100 million hours” of UFC programming—evidence they pointed to in support of expanding the streaming model into Canada.
The reporting tied the Canadian deal to Paramount’s broader corporate push into streaming, noting the company’s “market cap of $11.7 billion” and that “seven analysts have revised their earnings upwards for Paramount,” according to InvestingPro data.
UFC executive vice-president David Shaw framed the shift as part of the brand’s evolution and emphasized a fan-facing benefit: “Ultimately, what this comes down to is a really fan-friendly opportunity … to experience UFC content starting in January 2027.”
Paramount+’s Rodrigo Mazón said the Canada expansion would bring the service “into the Octagon in 2027 for no additional cost,” adding that it lets Paramount+ “serve a deeply engaged MMA audience” and reinforces the service’s focus on “premium live sports and globally relevant entertainment.”
