Ashley Judd and Prominent Advocates Discuss Empowering Domestic Violence Survivors

The event was held by The Allstate Foundation to discuss the importance of empowering survivors of domestic violence. Speakers included photojournalist Donna Ferrato, author and speaker Tommi Vincent, wife of NFL executive Troy Vincent, and Ashley Judd, one of the "Silence Breakers" recognized as Time Person of the Year in 2017. Ferrato's photographs have raised awareness of domestic abuse in the U.S. One of Ferrato’s most well-known photographs, “Behind Closed Doors,” depicted a couple under the pseudonyms “Garth” and “Lisa.” whose real name was later revealed to be Elisabeth Lindberg. During her remarks, Judd said that while not all men are violent, many are silent about the violence other men perpetrate.
