Rathbones Group PLC boosted its Motorola Solutions stake by 64.4% in the first quarter, bringing its holding to 359,418 shares worth about $156 million, according to Ticker Report. The British wealth manager made the move as part of a broad reshuffling of its U.S. equity portfolio.
The firm did not move in one direction only. It cut some positions sharply while lifting others, showing an active hand across U.S. industrials, services, and infrastructure stocks, according to Watchlist News.
Rathbones added roughly 140,000 shares of Motorola Solutions in Q1, lifting its total to 359,418 shares valued at $155.98 million. That is a 64.4% jump in one quarter. The move makes Motorola Solutions one of Rathbones' largest individual U.S. equity bets, according to Ticker Report.
Rathbones was not the only firm buying Motorola in Q1. Whipplewood Advisors grew its stake by about 1,967% to 62 shares. Western Wealth Management and MidAtlantic Capital Management both opened brand-new positions. Physician Wealth Advisors expanded its holding by 540% to 64 shares. On the sell side, Rathbones cut its Booz Allen Hamilton position by 21%, leaving it with 575,565 shares worth about $44.9 million. The reduction is notable, but giant holders like Vanguard Group still own 13.9 million shares and T. Rowe Price holds 6.5 million, according to Watchlist News.
Rathbones also trimmed Martin Marietta Materials by 17.8%, bringing its stake to 162,991 shares valued at roughly $95.95 million. Other investors moved the opposite way. The Motorola move was just one piece of a larger Q1 reshuffle. Rathbones cut its TJX Companies stake by 27.8% and trimmed Costco by 14.1% to 235,962 shares. It also reduced GE Vernova by 26.3% to 49,605 shares, according to Ticker Report and Watchlist News.
At the same time, Rathbones bought a brand-new stake in Marsh & McLennan, picking up 1,356,972 shares. It also raised its Morgan Stanley position by 5.2% to 742,378 shares worth $122.17 million.
