Assam Special Task Force arrests man in Guwahati for suspected Pakistani espionage.

Singh was arrested during an overnight operation on October 3–4 at a rented house in Gandhinagar, within the Satgaon police station area; reports identify his home district as Purba (East) Champaran, Bihar.
The operation followed a joint intelligence-development effort: Gajraj Military Intelligence in Tezpur supplied the preliminary input, after which STF IG Partha Sarathi Mahanta and Sonitpur SSP Barun Purkayastha developed it into actionable information, according to one report.
Police registered the matter as STF Police Station Case No. 09/2026, but had not publicly disclosed which sections of law were invoked.
Officials had not disclosed how long Singh had lived in Guwahati or how he allegedly came into contact with the intelligence operative.

India Today reports a retired army jawan re-employed on a contractual basis with the military was arrested alongside Singh. Police did not disclose how long Singh had lived in Guwahati or details of how the pair allegedly made contact with the Pakistan-based operative.
Police say Singh allegedly passed defense movement details to a Pakistan intelligence operative. Times of India reports officers seized a mobile phone, SIM cards, and documents they called incriminating. Investigators are working to determine what classified information may have been shared and whether additional suspects are involved in the alleged spy ring.
