Peacock sets December premiere date for the new animated Ted series with original cast.

The teaser shows Ted claiming they can do anything “now, no consequences,” before John’s attempted backflip ends with him face-down and an anvil dropping on him; Ted says, “This is going to be fun!”
Amanda Seyfried’s Sam is identified as John’s wife, while Jessica Barth’s Tami-Lynn is Ted’s wife.
Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh co-created the animated series with Seth MacFarlane and also serve as its co-showrunners; Rough Draft Studios is handling the animation.
Peacock’s live-action prequel has aired for two seasons, but MacFarlane has said there are no plans for a third because of the show’s high production cost.
Peacock will debut Ted: The Animated Series on December 17, 2026, with eight episodes kicking off the new show. The streaming service plans to release more episodes in 2027, though no specific date has been announced. Set 12 years after Ted 2, the series follows Ted and John as neighbors with families and jobs, diving into trouble around marriage, parenting, and adulthood.
Seth MacFarlane and Mark Wahlberg reprise their roles as the voices of Ted and John, joined by Amanda Seyfried as John's wife Sam and Jessica Barth as Ted's wife Tami-Lynn. The teaser shows Ted saying they can do anything "now, no consequences" — before John's attempted backflip ends with him flat on his face and an anvil dropping on him. Ted grins: "This is going to be fun!"
The show brings back the core talent from the Ted films. Besides MacFarlane and Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried joins the ensemble, along with Jessica Barth reprising her role as Tami-Lynn. New cast members Kyle Mooney and Liz Richman add fresh voices as Apollo and Ruth. Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh co-created the series with MacFarlane and serve as co-showrunners.
Peacock also airs a live-action prequel focusing on John's high school years. That show has run for two seasons but will not continue. Seth MacFarlane said the prequel's high production costs made a third season unfeasible. The animated series represents a different direction — a direct continuation of the Ted films rather than a backstory.
The 30-second teaser sets the show's comedic rhythm. Ted and John, now older and supposedly more settled, promise each other reckless fun. John attempts a backflip and crashes. Ted watches impassively as a cartoon anvil drops on John's head. The bit captures the franchise's signature blend: absurdist humor mixed with the friendship at its core.
Rough Draft Studios is producing the animation for the series. The studio has a proven track record with adult comedies. By outsourcing animation work, Peacock likely keeps production costs lower than the live-action prequel, making the series more sustainable for multiple seasons.
