Air France Plans 29,000-Square-Foot JFK Lounge

Air France said New York is one of its most important markets and is marking 80 years of service to the city in 2026.
The lounge is being designed by Air France’s in-house team in collaboration with design agency MARKS Brandimage.
Air France’s 2026 summer schedule includes as many as six daily flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and JFK, underscoring the importance of the route to the carrier’s New York operation.
The New Terminal One project is estimated to cost $9.5 billion and forms part of the Port Authority’s broader $19 billion redevelopment of JFK; full completion is targeted for 2030.
Once complete, New Terminal One is planned to cover about 2.6 million square feet, include 23 gates and provide more than 300,000 square feet for dining, retail and lounge facilities.
Air France will open its largest lounge outside France at New York's JFK Airport in 2027, a sprawling 29,000-square-foot facility that seats over 400 guests across two levels. APEX The move marks Air France's relocation from Terminal 1 to the new Terminal One, cementing the carrier's commitment to New York as it celebrates 80 years of service to the city in 2026. The flagship lounge will feature French dining overseen by a renowned chef, wine and Champagne bars, work zones, and beauty-treatment services — with separate exclusive areas for top-tier passengers.
New York ranks among Air France's most critical markets, with the carrier planning up to six daily flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and JFK during summer 2026. Robb Report The new lounge represents roughly triple the space of Air France's current Terminal 1 facility, addressing years of crowding and limited seating. Nicolas Henin, Senior Vice President for North America at Air France-KLM, said the move elevates "premium travel experience to a new level... providing elegance in every moment of the journey."
La Première passengers — Air France's ultra-premium cabin tier — will access an exclusive private area with personalized service and custom-prepared meals. Flying Blue Ultimate members and eligible business-class flyers get dedicated spaces. Robb Report The lounge also welcomes SkyTeam Elite Plus members and partner-airline passengers, making it a hub for the entire SkyTeam alliance at JFK.
The lounge anchors Air France's footprint inside the new Terminal One, a 2.6-million-square-foot international gateway under construction as part of JFK's broader $19 billion redevelopment. Robb Report Terminal One will feature 23 gates and over 300,000 square feet of dining, retail, and lounge space when it opens in phases through 2030. Air France's in-house design team partnered with agency MARKS Brandimage on the lounge, the same collaboration behind the airline's acclaimed La Première lounge at Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
The investment positions Air France and alliance partner Delta Air Lines to compete aggressively for high-yield transatlantic passengers at JFK. While Delta's Terminal 4 lounge remains the airport's largest carrier facility, Air France's new flagship now ranks among the biggest single-airline lounges in New York. Yahoo Travel The move signals confidence in post-pandemic demand for premium transatlantic service, even as rival European carriers like British Airways and Lufthansa operate their own premium lounges at the airport.
