Taxpayer-Funded Ad Featuring Donald Trump Reaches $430,000 Amid Bipartisan Criticism

A U.S.-government-funded 30-second television ad featuring Donald Trump and Republican themes—including opposition to communism, tax cuts, manufacturing and law and order—has aired on Fox News, Newsmax and other platforms ahead of the midterms. AdImpact initially tracked $14,000 in spending, but reported the total had risen to $430,000 by the ad’s third day; the government agency paying for it has not been identified. The White House defended the spot as an educational and patriotic public-service announcement, while critics from both parties questioned the use of taxpayer money for messaging aligned with Republican campaign themes. Democrats raised potential ethics and Hatch Act concerns, and Republican Sen. Thom Tillis also called the ad inappropriate.
The ad began airing Wednesday night and also ran on connected-TV platforms, in addition to programs on Fox News and Newsmax.
The spot includes a clip of UFC President Dana White praising Trump: “He is the toughest, most resilient person that I've ever met,” and saying nothing will stop him from fighting for the country.
The report placed the ad amid a difficult political backdrop for Republicans, noting that Trump was not on the midterm ballot but had urged voters to pretend he was, while the party faced voter dissatisfaction over gas prices and the war with Iran.
The article drew a comparison with a $220 million Department of Homeland Security ad campaign overseen by former Secretary Kristi Noem; POLITICO had reported that Trump did not approve that commercial and that administration officials worried she was using her position to prepare for a future political campaign.
