U2 to Release Final Dolly Parton Vocal Performance on New Album

U2 will release Carnaval De Luz, its 16th studio album, on Nov. 13, with Dolly Parton featured on the closing track, “Torn.” Recorded in June, the duet is described as Parton’s final vocal performance; Bono said she got out of bed while ill to record it. Parton offered the song after Bono’s initial Irish-folk-inspired collaboration idea did not appeal to her, and Bono and Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid reworked its lyrics. Producer Garret “Jacknife” Lee said Parton heard and approved the finished recording before her death at 80 on Aug. 25.
