Copper explorers report expanding mineralization across major western projects with new drilling results.

American West Metals reported extensive visual copper-zinc and molybdenum mineralization in drilling at its West Desert Project in Utah, including 140 metres of combined CRD-style mineralization and 219 metres of molybdenite in a hole west of the existing deposit. Additional holes identified zinc, molybdenum and copper-oxide mineralization and extended the prospective system along a 4-kilometre magnetic trend, with laboratory assays pending. Golden Sky Minerals said soil and rock sampling at the Mowich Target in British Columbia outlined coherent, elongated copper anomalies associated with diorite, monzodiorite and monzonite intrusive rocks, supporting a porphyry copper-gold exploration model. Copper-in-soil results reached 521 parts per million, while a rock sample from a diorite margin returned 2,216.1 parts per million copper. Breakthrough Minerals reported that three holes at the Turpentine Deposit in North Queensland extended copper-gold mineralization northward and at depth, including a best intersection of 5 metres at 3.75% copper equivalent. All nine holes completed in the 2026 Turpentine program have intersected copper mineralization, and further drilling and assays are planned to test extensions beyond the current resource.
American West Metals said historical drilling in the western area had previously returned grades of up to 20% zinc, 1.4% copper and 470 grams per tonne indium in skarn, providing additional context for the significance of the new WD26-07 intersection.
A separate hole, WD26-06, was drilled about 1 kilometre north of the West Desert deposit along an untested contact and encountered thick magnetite skarn plus 11 metres of breccia-hosted visual copper-oxide mineralization.
Golden Sky Minerals said the Mowich exploration update coincided with a 7,288-hectare expansion of its land position at the Rayfield-Gjoll project, adding ground for follow-up porphyry copper-gold exploration.
Breakthrough Minerals reported that the Turpentine intercepts had estimated true widths of approximately 75% to 95% of their downhole lengths, and that hole 26TUR004 also returned separate zones of 4 metres at 0.76% copper equivalent and 9 metres at 0.42% copper equivalent.
Turpentine is Breakthrough Minerals' largest individual deposit, with an inferred resource of 8.7 million tonnes at 1.16% copper equivalent, containing an estimated 101,000 tonnes of copper equivalent; the company plans to resume drilling with a dedicated reverse-circulation rig after the initial program.
