Three Gujarati Relatives Kidnapped in Ethiopia Along Unauthorized Migration Route

Three relatives from Gujarat have gone missing in Ethiopia after reportedly traveling toward the United States through an unauthorized migration route arranged by agents. Their families say they lost contact with the group after September 22 and received a ₹1 crore ransom demand from a caller identifying himself as “Khan”; they also claim about ₹60 lakh has already been paid. The journey reportedly included stops in Jaipur, Abu Dhabi and Addis Ababa, after the family pursued an alternative route when one woman was unable to obtain a U.S. visa. Police have registered a missing-person complaint and are investigating, while the abduction claims and the caller’s identity have not been independently confirmed.
The missing relatives were identified as 23-year-old Rutvik Jansari of Vadsma, 30-year-old Mamta Chavda of Gojaria and 27-year-old Mayuri Solanki of Gandhinagar.
Reports describe multiple intermediaries: local agent Alpesh Panchal allegedly arranged the initial plan, while Vadodara-based agent Bhargav Patel reportedly took over and charged between ₹60 lakh and ₹75 lakh per person.
The trio reportedly stayed at a GSF camp on Swaziland Street in Addis Ababa and held Ethiopian e-visas valid from September 19 to October 19.
Before contact stopped, Mamta reportedly told her family on September 22 that the group had reached Canada; agents had allegedly told the family they would continue from there to the United States.
