Capcom Achieves Record Q1 2026, Fueled by Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata Success.

Capcom reported Q1 2026 net sales of ¥70.41 billion and operating profit of ¥41.05 billion, up 54.7% and 66.9% year over year, respectively.
The quarter saw digital game unit sales reach 23.81 million, up from 14.16 million in the same period a year earlier.
Capcom noted that five other Resident Evil titles sold at least 1 million copies in the quarter, underscoring strong catalogue performance beyond the Requiem release.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance was announced, with Capcom signaling increased series interest ahead of the expansion’s impact on future sales.
Capcom highlighted lifetime sales milestones for major franchises, with Street Fighter over 60 million, Monster Hunter about 131 million, and Resident Evil over 213 million sold worldwide.
Capcom just posted its best quarter ever. The Japanese publisher reported Q1 2026 net sales of ¥70.41 billion and operating profit of ¥41.05 billion — up 54.7% and 66.9% year over year, according to GamesRadar. Digital game unit sales nearly doubled, rising from 14.16 million to 23.81 million in a single year.
Two games drove most of that growth. Resident Evil Requiem sold 8 million copies in just four months, setting a new franchise speed record. Newcomer Pragmata crossed 2.5 million sales since its April 2026 launch, proving Capcom can build a hit new series from scratch.
Resident Evil Requiem is now the fastest-selling game in the entire Resident Evil series. MP1st reported it reached 8 million units in roughly four months — faster than any previous entry. GamingBolt confirmed the milestone as of July 30, 2025, citing Capcom's latest consolidated financial results.
The record doesn't stop there. MP1st noted that RE2 Remake is now the best-selling Resident Evil game of all time on a lifetime basis. Five other Resident Evil titles each sold at least 1 million copies in the same quarter alone. The franchise has now moved over 213 million units worldwide.
Pragmata debuted in April 2026 and already has 2.5 million copies sold. That's a strong number for a brand-new franchise with no pre-built fanbase. GamesRadar called it a key reason for the company's huge jump in profits this quarter.
Capcom rarely launches new IPs. When it does, the stakes are high. Pragmata clearing 2.5 million quickly suggests the publisher has another long-running series on its hands.
Capcom's back catalog remained a major engine this quarter. Devil May Cry 5 surpassed 14 million lifetime sales. Street Fighter has now sold over 60 million copies across its history. Monster Hunter sits at about 131 million lifetime units, according to Tbreak.
Capcom also announced Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, signaling more growth ahead for that franchise. The company pointed to broad global demand — not just new launches — as the driver behind its record results.
A 66.9% jump in operating profit in a single year is not normal. It means Capcom's strategy — release big, keep old games selling, build new IPs — is working. GameGPU noted that Resident Evil Requiem's speed record shows the franchise has more momentum now than at almost any point in its history.
With Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance still ahead, Capcom has a clear path to sustain this performance into its next fiscal quarters. Investors and fans alike will be watching whether Pragmata can keep growing and whether Requiem can catch RE2 Remake's all-time record.
