Ukrainian Drones Deliver Food and Medicine to Occupied Town of Oleshky

Ukraine has delivered nearly 4 metric tons of food and medicine to the Russian-occupied town of Oleshky using military drones, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced. The latest shipment contained almost 400 packages sent to the frontline town on the Dnipro River, which Russia has controlled since 2022.
Oleshky remains cut off from Ukrainian-controlled territory and faces critical shortages. Ukraine's human rights ombudsman reported that Russia has blocked civilian evacuation proposals, leaving the population trapped in occupied territory.
The Ukrainian military continues using drone technology to bypass Russian control. Foreign Minister Sybiha confirmed the operation delivered supplies to Oleshky's trapped civilians. The 400 packages totaled nearly 4 metric tons of food and medicine—a lifeline for a town facing severe shortages under occupation.
The Kremlin has acknowledged critical food and medical shortages in Oleshky and other occupied areas, according to reports. Despite admitting the crisis, Russia has not approved evacuation corridors. This leaves civilians dependent on irregular drone deliveries rather than organized humanitarian relief.
Dmytro Lubinets, Ukraine's human rights ombudsman, reported that Russia rejected proposals to allow civilians to leave Oleshky. The refusal traps thousands in a war zone without safe passage. Ukraine has not announced when the next drone delivery will occur.
Oleshky, a southern Ukrainian town on the Dnipro River, fell under Russian control in 2022. Two years of occupation have degraded infrastructure and depleted supplies. The town remains isolated, with Ukraine unable to provide conventional humanitarian corridors and forced to rely on drone operations to help civilians survive.
