Miley Cyrus drops her family legacy and releases the new 10-track album Bass Persuades.

The album was released on Sept. 18 as a 10-track set, following Cyrus’ 2025 album “Something Beautiful,” which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.
Cyrus announced the new era after a week of cryptic teasers, including a billboard and social-media posts featuring only “Miley”; she also removed “Cyrus” from her Instagram handle.
The “Let’s Get Married” music video was filmed at Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont and features Cyrus’ fiancé, Maxx Morando.
Cyrus’ previous album “Endless Summer Vacation” produced “Flowers,” which spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won the Grammy for Song of the Year.
Miley Cyrus dropped her 10th studio album, "Bass Persuades," on September 18, marking her bold rebrand under the mononym Miley. The title track debuted at No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100, while climbing to No. 2 on both the Hot Dance/Pop Songs and Digital Song Sales charts, according to Forbes. The 10-track project reflects years of personal growth and what Cyrus calls the "peace" that came from slowing down her life.
Cyrus dropped the mononym announcement through cryptic teasers in late August—removing "Cyrus" from her Instagram handle and posting billboards with just "Miley." The move signals a deliberate split from her family legacy, with her fiancé Maxx Morando appearing on several tracks and in the "Let's Get Married" music video filmed at Los Angeles' Chateau Marmont. She'll perform two headline shows at the Hollywood Bowl in October, her first major public concerts since 2022.
Cyrus has framed "Bass Persuades" as a multilayered love story exploring both romantic connection and self-love. In an Apple Music interview, she spoke about a track called "Snow," saying the outro is her repeating a mantra: "It doesn't get better... This right here, this life that I'm in, this moment, it is such bliss." The album pulls from early-90s synth-bass influences while maintaining an electronic dance-pop foundation throughout its runtime.
Contributors include producers Kid Harpoon, Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow, and Maxx Morando, who co-produced multiple tracks. Brooklyn noise-rock group Model/Actriz also lent their touch to the project. Yahoo Entertainment noted the album keeps things surprisingly light on bass despite its title—a trade-off some critics felt diluted the project's conceptual punch.
The lead single "Bass Persuades" marked Cyrus' first-ever appearance on Billboard's Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart, a ranking dominated by electronic and dance-oriented tracks. Forbes reported the song nearly hit No. 1 on that chart while simultaneously reaching No. 2 on Digital Song Sales. This represents new commercial ground for an artist typically known for pop radio dominance rather than dance-chart success.
The title track debuted as the US Radio Most Added Overall Song and claimed a spot in the US Spotify Top Songs immediately upon release. Zara Larsson's "Midnight Sun" held onto the No. 1 position on Hot Dance/Pop Songs for its 10th consecutive week, however, blocking Cyrus from the top slot on that particular chart.
"Bass Persuades" arrives two years after "Endless Summer Vacation," the 2023 album that delivered the global smash hit "Flowers." That track spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won two Grammy Awards—Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance—cementing Cyrus as a major chart force. Billboard data showed "Flowers" became one of the biggest songs of the past decade.
Cyrus released a brief 2025 project called "Something Beautiful" that debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 between "Endless Summer Vacation" and "Bass Persuades." The new album signals she's moving away from the slower, breakup-focused sound that defined "Flowers" toward upbeat dance-pop territory. In interviews, she's hinted at already working on the next project, telling BBC Radio 1 that "when the album comes out and people have it, I'll already be on the next album."
To maximize physical album sales, Atlantic Records rolled out multiple exclusive vinyl pressings in Ruby, Neon, and Maybelline Indigo editions. Pop-up merchandise shops launched across major cities, while Maybelline ran a contest offering limited-edition album pressings. These strategies push "Bass Persuades" beyond typical streaming-era releases toward a collectibles-driven model.
The October 16 and 18 Hollywood Bowl headline shows mark Cyrus' first major public concerts since wrapping her 2022 Attention Tour. Presale numbers reportedly drew approximately 1.5 million ticket queue entries, signaling strong demand for live performances. The Bowl shows will test whether her fanbase follows her into this new dance-pop era or if they remain attached to the "Flowers" sound.
