Northern England housing schemes advance as plans for nearly 500 new homes progress.

Two housing proposals in Yorkshire are moving through planning: Springhead Developments has applied to build 52 homes, including 16 affordable units, on Green Belt land near Halifax, with landscape, drainage and ecological measures proposed. In Leeds, plans for a 21-storey, 212-apartment block near York Road have been recommended for approval; the design was revised after concerns from a neighboring car-park owner, and approval would include a contribution to walking and cycling routes and a seven-percent affordable-housing commitment. Separately, Homes by Esh has received approval for 230 homes at Darlington’s planned Burtree Garden Village, which is expected to grow to about 2,000 homes alongside community facilities and enhanced ecological features.
