WNBA Plans Return With Critical Mystics-Sky Matchup

The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at Chicago’s Wintrust Arena and will be streamed on the Monumental Sports Network.
Washington entered the matchup 24-16, while Chicago was 15-25; the Mystics were listed as 3.5-point favorites, with a 167.5-point over/under and money-line odds of -155 compared with Chicago at +130.
Kamilla Cardoso scored more than 12.5 points in nine of her final 11 games before the hiatus and averaged 16 points during that span.
Washington’s defensive form had deteriorated before the break: opponents’ field-goal percentage rose by five percentage points over the Mystics’ previous three games, and the Los Angeles Sparks shot 56% in Washington’s final tune-up.
The matchup was also available on The U, according to the game preview’s broadcast information.
The Washington Mystics and Chicago Sky return from the WNBA's international hiatus Thursday night with starkly different urgencies. Washington, sitting 24-16, is fighting to lock down a playoff spot, while Chicago has already been eliminated from postseason contention at 15-25. The Mystics enter as 3.5-point favorites in a matchup that could prove crucial for their playoff seeding.
Washington's defense has crumbled in recent games, and that weakness could benefit Chicago's Kamilla Cardoso. The Mystics' opponents shot 5 percentage points higher in their last three contests before the break. Los Angeles torched them for 56% field goal accuracy in their final tune-up. Cardoso scored more than 12.5 points in nine of her last 11 games, averaging 16 points during that stretch.
The Mystics are without Sonia Citron and could be missing Georgia Amoore. Chicago faces bigger problems: DiJonai Carrington, Skylar Diggins, and Rickea Jackson are all questionable or out. That forces the Sky to lean on Natasha Cloud and rookie Sydney Taylor to keep pace with a Mystics team desperate for wins.
The Mystics can't afford to slip up against an eliminated opponent. Every win matters in the tight playoff race. A victory Thursday would strengthen their case for a higher seed and keep their season's momentum alive heading into the final stretch.
Tipoff is 8 p.m. ET at Chicago's Wintrust Arena. The game streams on the Monumental Sports Network and The U. Oddsmakers set the over/under at 167.5 points, with the Mystics at -155 on the money line and Chicago at +130.
