Donald Trump criticizes Fox News on Truth Social over heavy coverage of Democratic leaders.

Despite criticizing Fox News, Trump had recently floated Fox senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy as a possible replacement for press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
Media Matters’ Matt Gertz speculated that Trump may have seen a Fox clip of Chuck Schumer criticizing Republicans’ artificial-intelligence policy shortly before posting his complaint.
Trump had also attacked Fox in July 2024, telling the network, “STOP PUTTING ON THE ENEMY!”
President Trump attacked Fox News on Truth Social, accusing the network of giving Democrats too much airtime. He singled out appearances by Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and panelist Jessica Tarlov, warning that MAGA supporters will turn against the channel. AOL reported that Trump threatened to boycott Fox over its coverage choices.
The criticism marks another flare-up in Trump's rocky relationship with Fox. Though the network has remained generally friendly to his agenda, Trump has repeatedly attacked it over guest selections and coverage decisions. Media Matters analysts suggested Trump may have reacted to a recent clip of Schumer criticizing Republican AI policy.
Trump's complaints about Fox are not new. In July 2024, he told the network, "STOP PUTTING ON THE ENEMY!" according to reporting on his previous statements. He has consistently argued that conservative outlets should feature more pro-Trump voices and fewer Democratic guests.
His latest post focuses on airtime distribution. Daily Mail reported that Trump accused Fox of spending more time on Democrats and critics than on pro-Trump commentary. The president views guest selection as a loyalty test for networks claiming to be conservative.
Trump's complaint may overstate the actual airtime Democrats receive on Fox. Schumer and Jeffries appear on the network only occasionally, according to reporting. Jessica Tarlov is a regular on "The Five," but she sits alongside four conservative voices on the panel show.
The network's programming leans heavily toward conservative hosts and commentators. Yet Trump's criticism reflects his broader view that even token Democratic appearances represent disloyalty to his political movement and brand.
Trump's feud with Fox comes as he continues battling other outlets. AOL noted that he recently barred three news organizations from White House access. This sparked several major networks to stop participating in a rotating pool that distributes presidential coverage to outlets that don't get direct access.
Despite his public criticism of Fox, Trump has floated positive personnel moves. He recently considered Fox correspondent Peter Doocy as a possible replacement for White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, signaling that selective praise can coexist with his broader network complaints.
