Kaplan Fox Files Securities Class Actions Against Four Major Companies

Kaplan Fox announced securities class actions involving UWM Holdings, Alibaba, Simply Good Foods and GoDaddy, alleging that investors were harmed by undisclosed risks or misleading company statements. The UWM complaint points to a large derivatives loss and second-quarter net loss, alleging executives disclosed the company was over-hedged after a planned acquisition fell through. The Alibaba suit alleges the company’s inclusion on a U.S. Defense Department list and reports that it improperly accessed Anthropic’s AI models preceded a share-price decline. The Simply Good complaint alleges previously undisclosed OWYN product-quality and sales problems, followed by sharp declines in the company’s stock after disclosures of weaker consumption and a brand impairment. The GoDaddy complaint alleges promotional discounts on shorter-term, lower-value contracts weakened bookings growth despite company statements about customer and order growth. Lead-plaintiff deadlines are October 5 for Alibaba, October 13 for UWM Holdings and Simply Good Foods, and October 20 for GoDaddy; the allegations have not been adjudicated.
UWM reported a $603.2 million interest-rate derivatives loss, and its total equity fell 43.6% year over year.
The Alibaba complaint says the Defense Department included the company on its list of Chinese military companies because of its direct or indirect control by, or affiliation with, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Alibaba shares fell $7.53, or 7.4%, over two trading days after the June 24 report about alleged access to Anthropic’s AI model.
The Simply Good complaint cites a $187 million impairment charge against the OWYN brand; the company’s stock fell more than 27% over two trading days after the April 2026 results disclosure.
The GoDaddy complaint says bookings growth decelerated to 5% in the company’s fourth-quarter and full-year 2025 results.
