Communities nationwide welcome the autumn season with new pumpkin patches and fall attractions.

Pumpkin-themed fall attractions are opening and drawing crowds across the country. Pleasanton’s Alameda County Fairgrounds will host Pumpkins After Dark for the first time, featuring thousands of carved pumpkins and family-friendly displays. In the Yakima Valley, Thompson’s Farm is opening its pumpkin patch with activities including pumpkin-cannon demonstrations, pig races and a corn maze. Saratoga’s 11th annual Giant Pumpkinfest brought growers and visitors together to weigh oversized pumpkins and award prizes, while a Palm Beach County guide highlights local pumpkin patches and fall treats.
Pleasanton’s Pumpkins After Dark will include live pumpkin carving, in addition to its carved-pumpkin displays.
The Pleasanton attraction is designed as a leisurely, atmospheric Halloween experience rather than a traditional haunted house.
At Thompson’s Farm, admission and parking are free; hayrides, the corn maze and the children’s play area cost extra. Pumpkin cannons fire hourly from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
