Mangione McDonald's Arrest Footage

New Body Camera Footage Shows Arrest of Luigi Mangione at Pennsylvania McDonald's

Newly unsealed police body camera footage shows the arrest of Luigi Mangione, who fatally shot United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in 2024. The footage was taken from a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and shows officers questioning Mangione before he is handcuffed, searched and transported to the police station. The videos also show thorough searches of Mangione's belongings, including a gun found in his backpack. This is the first time these videos have been seen outside the courtroom. Some of the footage was played during a dayslong suppression hearing last December, when the defense argued evidence recovered during the arrest should be suppressed due to Mangione’s backpack being improperly searched. New York State Judge Gregory Carro ruled most of the evidence would be allowed at trial and placed the videos under seal after CNN petitioned for their release.
