GlobalFoundries Finalizes $375 Million Agreement to Advance Domestic Quantum Chip Manufacturing

Nicholas Sergeant, GlobalFoundries’ vice president and general manager of Quantum Technology Solutions, called the agreement “another important milestone” in building a scalable domestic quantum manufacturing ecosystem.
GlobalFoundries’ Malta, New York, manufacturing site serves as the base for the company’s quantum activities, while the company operates semiconductor facilities across the United States, Europe and Asia.
GlobalFoundries said it has expanded engagement with customers and ecosystem partners that are using its research, development and manufacturing expertise to address difficult quantum-chip scaling requirements.
GlobalFoundries has secured up to $375 million in research and development funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce over five years to scale domestic quantum-chip manufacturing GF. The award supports the company's Quantum Technology Solutions business and aims to help quantum-computing companies move from early research to commercial production Simply Wall St.
The funding focuses on key technologies including cryogenic CMOS, advanced packaging, and heterogeneous integration to build a secure U.S.-based quantum semiconductor supply chain evertiq.
