Apple Prepares October Unveil for Foldable iPhone and New Smart Home Devices

Apple is expected to unveil several products in October, including the foldable iPhone Duo, a new Apple TV 4K, an updated HomePod mini, and a screen-equipped smart-home hub, alongside software updates. Reports say the Apple TV could gain a newer A-series chip and Siri AI support; a new full-size HomePod is reportedly not part of the launches. The standard iPhone 18 and budget iPhone 18e are not expected next month. Separately, CEO John Ternus is reportedly considering faster, year-round product launches, a leaner organization, and tighter spending to accelerate development and compete in AI. These changes could take years, while job cuts and restructuring are already underway in several teams.
A report puts the announcement of three new Apple home products on Tuesday, October 13.
The foldable iPhone Duo is expected to launch on October 23, with pre-orders opening October 16; iOS 27.1 is expected before launch, while iOS 27.2 is slated to add five additional Siri AI languages.
Beyond a newer processor, the next Apple TV 4K is rumored to get 8GB to 12GB of RAM, Apple’s N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 support, and an updated Siri Remote; a leak reportedly suggests its appearance will remain unchanged.
Ternus is also reportedly looking for more revenue from existing products as growth in Apple’s services business slows, while early 2027 planning has included smaller budget increases, flat staffing and reduced marketing spending.
