Megan Thee Stallion Opens Up About Her Abrupt And Shocking Split From Klay Thompson

According to Megan’s account, the couple had already bought a house together, and she said Thompson developed “cold feet” about a long-term relationship.
Megan said she had sometimes overridden her instincts by giving people too much “benefit of the doubt,” and urged others to listen to their gut.
The pair made their red-carpet debut at Megan’s Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York in July 2025.
Megan Thee Stallion is still processing her abrupt breakup with Miami Heat star Klay Thompson, saying she remains in shock nine months after their split in April 2026. In a Marie Claire cover profile, the Grammy-winning rapper revealed the nine-month relationship left her constantly anxious and that Thompson allegedly struggled with commitment and fidelity. She said she is taking time away from dating to heal her nervous system before pursuing another relationship.
The couple went public in July 2025 after a soft launch on Instagram, making their red-carpet debut at Megan's Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York on July 16. They bought a house together and shared family milestones through early 2026, but the relationship deteriorated during basketball season. Klay Thompson has not publicly responded to any of Megan's allegations.
Megan and Klay debuted publicly at the inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala, which raised $1.2 million for underserved communities. Throughout late 2025 and early 2026, they shared major milestones online—co-purchasing a home, attending family Thanksgiving, exchanging birthday gifts. Megan even posted about "manifesting" an engagement. But everything unraveled quickly. She announced the split via Instagram on April 25, 2026, accusing Thompson of infidelity, severe mood swings, and developing "cold feet" about long-term commitment.
Megan described the relationship as emotionally destabilizing. "I feel like I was in a panic 24/7," she told Marie Claire. "Constantly on edge. My nervous system needed to calm down." She said she had ignored her gut feelings by giving people too much "benefit of the doubt." Now she is urging others to trust their instincts. "Sometimes I be knowing in my gut and in my heart, then you give so much benefit of the doubt. No, the gut is always right," she said.
Megan was clear about what ended the relationship. "Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there's no real path forward," she stated. She accused Thompson of cheating and questioned whether monogamy aligned with his values. The iHeart interview revealed Thompson allegedly told her that "monogamy might not be for him"—a fundamental incompatibility Megan refused to overlook.
Megan said she is not rushing into another relationship. Instead, she is focusing on personal recovery and letting her nervous system settle. She emphasized that this breakup was unlike anything she had experienced before. "I ain't never been through nothing like that in my whole life," she said. Meanwhile, Megan continues her professional work, including her feature in the 2026 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and ongoing music releases. The Pete & Thomas Foundation, launched to support housing, education, and wellness initiatives, continues operating despite the personal fallout.
