ICC Will Unveil The Expanded 2027 Men Cricket World Cup Schedule Soon

The ICC and Cricket South Africa are expected to unveil the 2027 Men’s Cricket World Cup schedule on October 1, alongside opening registration for a ticket ballot; tickets will not be immediately available for purchase. South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will co-host the expanded 14-team tournament, expected to run from October to November, with the final reported for November 21; the official dates are still to be confirmed. South Africa and Zimbabwe qualify automatically as hosts, while eight places are allocated through ODI rankings and four more through a qualifying tournament; Namibia must qualify, and Bangladesh is in line for a spot despite ranking ninth because South Africa’s host place affects the allocation. The new format begins with a round-robin contest among the three lowest-ranked qualifiers, followed by two groups and a Super Seven stage to determine the semifinalists. The West Indies are among the notable teams currently outside the automatic qualification places.
The tournament is set to use 12 venues: eight in South Africa, three in Zimbabwe and one in Namibia.
The four remaining teams are scheduled to emerge from a qualifying tournament running from February 22 to March 23.
Australia will enter the tournament as defending champions after beating India by six wickets in the 2023 final.
The new competition format has drawn criticism from some associate nations, according to the report.
