Billy Joel Celebrates Half-Century in Music With Comprehensive New Box Set Release

Billy Joel will mark the 50th anniversary of his 1976 album Turnstiles with a deluxe edition due Dec. 11. The four-CD and Blu-ray set contains 67 audio tracks, including 54 previously unreleased recordings, alongside archival video performances, demos, alternate mixes and live material from 1975–76. It includes the restored concert film Billy Joel Tonight, a Dolby Atmos mix of the album and a booklet featuring archival photographs and new notes. Turnstiles captured Joel’s return to New York and the development of the band and sound that helped lead to his later breakthrough; it introduced enduring songs such as “New York State of Mind” and “Say Goodbye to Hollywood.”
