The deal is with an unnamed Australian data centre operator and centres on the company's Aurora Energy Precinct — a 1,580-hectare site designed to deliver firmed renewable power at scale.
The agreement sets out a staged path: a 17 MW starter campus can begin right away using an existing 33 kV grid connection, with a 200 MW anchor campus to follow once a 275 kV transmission line is built, Grafa reported. From there, capacity could scale all the way to 1 GW.
The Aurora Energy Precinct is designed to bundle generation and storage in one place. The agreement is mostly non-binding. Only two terms carry legal weight right now: the exclusivity over the 40-hectare parcel and the right of first refusal on power capacity. Everything else — including the full buildout — depends on hitting infrastructure milestones, Trading View noted.
That staged structure means neither side is locked into a gigawatt-scale commitment today. Development advances only as grid and generation infrastructure is put in place. It is a cautious but flexible approach for a project that could eventually rank among Australia's largest renewable-powered data centre hubs.
The deal targets a fast-growing market. AI and cloud providers are racing to secure large blocks of renewable power for their data centres. Aurora's combination of cheap solar, on-site storage, and scalable land makes it an attractive option, according to NT News.
For 1414 Degrees, the agreement is a way to turn its large South Australian landholding into recurring revenue — without building data centres itself. If the project reaches 1 GW, it would place Aurora among the biggest AI infrastructure sites in the Southern Hemisphere.
