Liberty's Late Comeback Win

Henderson and Copeland connect late to lift Liberty over Gardner-Webb 24-23

Liberty defeated Gardner-Webb 24-23, marking Liberty's first win since Nov. 1, 2025. The game was moved from 6 p.m. ET to noon due to the threat of inclement weather. Liberty trailed 23-17 after Gardner-Wbb scored 20 unanswered points and held the Flames scoreless in the third quarter. Jaylen Henderson and Darius Copeland scored the winning touchdown with 2:34 remaining. Deshawn Purdie threw for 122 yards and Jaylon Coleman ran for 20 yards. Gardner-webb responded with a 35-yard fumble return and a 65-yard scoring run to take a 20-14 lead.
