Dupahiya Season 2 Premieres Globally October 1

Season 2 is produced by Salona Bains Joshi and Shubh Shivdasani under Bombay Film Cartel LLP, in addition to being directed by Sonam Nair and written by Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg.
The first season consisted of nine episodes and followed the frantic search for a schoolteacher’s stolen motorcycle, which was intended as a wedding dowry and threatened both Dhadakpur’s 25-year crime-free record and his daughter’s wedding.
Prime Video announced the second season in March 2025, several months before confirming its October 2026 premiere.
Prime Video executive Nikhil Madhok said the show’s success was reflected in its characters becoming part of viewers’ everyday discussions: “When the characters start becoming part of dinner-table conversations, we know we’ve done something right.”
The series’ community-centered rural setting has drawn comparisons with Panchayat, although coverage notes that Dupahiya has its own storyline focused on Dhadakpur’s residents and the disruptions to their otherwise peaceful lives.
Prime Video is bringing back the Hindi comedy-drama Dupahiya for season two on October 1, 2026, with the show premiering worldwide across India and more than 240 countries and territories. Times Now News reported that the rural village of Dhadakpur will face fresh problems and greater chaos after season one's theft of a motorcycle nearly shattered the community's 25-year crime-free record.
The returning cast includes Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane, Sparsh Shrivastava, Bhuvan Arora, Shivani Raghuvanshi, and Yashpal Sharma. News18 noted that Bhojpuri actor and singer Dinesh Lal Yadav, known as Nirahua, joins the ensemble for season two, with Sonam Nair directing and creators Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg returning to write.
The first season followed a schoolteacher's desperate hunt for his stolen motorcycle, which was meant to be his daughter's wedding dowry. DNA India reported that the theft threatened both the wedding and Dhadakpur's spotless 25-year crime record. The nine-episode first season turned a simple robbery into a community-wide emergency that drew viewers into the village's chaos.
Prime Video executive Nikhil Madhok revealed that the show's success goes beyond viewership numbers. He said when characters "start becoming part of dinner-table conversations, we know we've done something right." Cinema Express noted the series was formally announced in March 2025, months before the October 2026 premiere confirmation.
Dupahiya's community-focused setting has led some viewers to compare it with the popular series Panchayat. However, The Telegraph India emphasized that Dupahiya tells its own distinct story centered on Dhadakpur's residents and the disruptions threatening their otherwise peaceful village life. The show carves out its own identity within the rural comedy-drama space.
Salona Bains Joshi and Shubh Shivdasani are producing season two under Bombay Film Cartel LLP, with Sonam Nair directing the fresh episodes. DNA India confirmed that creators and writers Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg are returning to shape the story. The production team remains intact as Dhadakpur's troubles deepen in the new season.
