Kyrie Irving nears return to the Mavericks lineup following a long ACL recovery.

Kyrie Irving says he is cleared to return without major restrictions after missing the 2025-26 season while recovering from a torn left ACL. The Mavericks will still communicate with him about his day-to-day condition and workload, including back-to-back games, and have not announced a firm return date. Irving said time away helped him reflect on his physical demands and his role as a leader, while team president Masai Ujiri said he is close to returning to game action.
Irving tore his left ACL on March 3, 2025; by media day, it had been nearly 600 days since he last played in an NBA game.
During his ramp-up, Irving has been participating in pickup games, a sign of progress toward returning to game action.
In the 2024-25 regular season, his most recent season of play, Irving averaged 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.3 steals in 36.1 minutes over 50 appearances.
Irving described wrestling with fear after the injury, asking himself whether he would return the same or become better.
