Hornets' Kon Knueppel and Grant Williams to Miss Preseason Due to Hamstring Injuries

Charlotte Hornets guard Kon Knueppel and forward Grant Williams will miss training camp and all four preseason games after sustaining hamstring injuries during offseason on-court activity. Knueppel injured his left hamstring and Williams his right; both are due to be re-evaluated during the first week of the regular season, leaving their availability for the opener uncertain. Knueppel averaged 18.5 points per game as a rookie and set an NBA rookie record with 273 made three-pointers. His absence could be significant as Charlotte looks for him to take on a larger role following LaMelo Ball’s offseason trade.
The Hornets had not provided an update on Brandon Miller, who underwent shoulder surgery in May.
Knueppel averaged 5.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game as a rookie, while shooting 47.5% from the field.
Knueppel finished as runner-up for Rookie of the Year, narrowly behind his college teammate Cooper Flagg.
Charlotte’s training camp is scheduled to begin Sept. 29 in Charleston, South Carolina.
