Hurco returns to profitability as third-quarter orders jump twenty-five percent.

CEO Greg Volovic said the company’s “disciplined execution of strategic pricing and tighter cost control through the down cycle” helped return Hurco to profitability during the quarter.
Third-quarter sales in the Americas rose 11% to $18.778 million, while Asia Pacific sales jumped 51% to $7.175 million.
Hurco said its gross-margin improvement was supported by a product mix shift toward higher-performance and five-axis machines, in addition to volume gains, cost controls and tariff refunds.
The company reported $166.7 million in working capital at the end of the quarter, alongside $52.1 million in cash and no debt.
Hurco’s institutional ownership was mixed in the latest reported quarter: 23 institutional investors added shares while 28 reduced their positions; Brandes Investment Partners cut its holdings by 173,889 shares, or 29.4%.
Machine tool maker Hurco swung back to profitability in the third quarter, posting $2.3 million in net income after losing $3.7 million a year earlier. Seeking Alpha reports the company's turnaround reflects a broadening industrial recovery. Sales rose 3% to $47.3 million while gross margins nearly doubled to 28% from 20%, driven by higher volumes and a shift toward premium products.
Orders jumped 25% to $51.4 million in the quarter, signaling strong demand ahead. GuruFocus notes Hurco also posted $2.3 million in net income per diluted share of $0.35. The company ended the period with $52.1 million in cash and zero debt, positioning itself for growth as it prepares to unveil next-generation control technology at the IMTS trade show in Chicago.
Hurco's geographic results show uneven growth across regions. TradingView reports Asia Pacific sales jumped 51% to $7.175 million in the quarter. Meanwhile, the Americas delivered 11% growth to $18.778 million. European markets remain a drag on overall performance, with weakness offsetting gains elsewhere.
Hurco's nearly 8-point margin improvement came from multiple sources working in tandem. CEO Greg Volovic credited "disciplined execution of strategic pricing and tighter cost control through the down cycle." The company also benefited from a product mix shift toward higher-performance and five-axis machines, volume gains, and tariff refunds totaling millions of dollars.
For the first nine months of fiscal 2026, sales climbed 4% to $137.8 million, while the net loss narrowed sharply to $3.5 million from $12.1 million a year prior. TradingView notes orders for the nine-month period rose 24%, with growth in the Americas and Asia Pacific offsetting European weakness. Hurco's working capital stood at $166.7 million, providing a strong cushion for future investments.
Hurco's stock crossed above its 200-day moving average, according to Watchlist News, trading as high as $21.91. However, institutional investor sentiment remained mixed. Twenty-three institutional investors added shares in the latest quarter while 28 reduced their positions. Notably, Brandes Investment Partners cut holdings by 173,889 shares, or 29.4%, suggesting caution despite recent gains.
