AMLBot Traces Stolen Bitget Hack Funds to CoinJoin While Millions Remain Dormant

AMLBot says it traced roughly 4 BTC linked to the Bitget breach into a Wasabi CoinJoin round, where transactions from multiple users are combined to make individual funds harder to follow. The firm traced the funds from a Bitget-linked TRON wallet through swaps and cross-chain transfers involving USDT, Ethereum, THORChain and Bitcoin; it has blacklisted linked addresses and says it is monitoring for further activity. The traced amount is a small portion of the breach: Bitget revised its estimated loss to about $387.5 million, while AMLBot said roughly $343.2 million of the assets it tracked remained dormant across attacker-controlled wallets.
Bitget said it would resume withdrawals on September 28, beginning with Bitcoin, and restore other services through October 2.
AMLBot said the $343.2 million still dormant represented 88.1% of the roughly $389.4 million it tracked, spread across 13 attacker-controlled wallets.
Bitget’s revised loss estimate of $387.5 million followed its initial estimate of $351.6 million; the exchange said the earlier figure omitted assets on Zcash and TRON.
The attribution of the Bitcoin to the Bitget breach rests on AMLBot’s blockchain analysis; the article notes that public records show transfers and swaps but do not, by themselves, establish who controlled the addresses.
