Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš Survives No-Confidence Vote Ahead of Key Elections

Czech lawmakers rejected a bid by the opposition to topple Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, leaving his coalition government with less than two weeks left before key local and senate elections. Only 83 opposition lawmakers voted against the no-confidence motion, falling short of the 101 votes needed to bring down the cabinet. The opposition's opposition was motivated by the government's proposed 2027 budget, which would run a deficit of €15.8 billion, the second-largest in Czech history. Critics have also criticized Babiush's alleged conflict of interest.
