Chelsea Striker Joao Pedro Consults Knee Specialist Ahead Of Bournemouth Match

Chelsea striker Joao Pedro has spent the international break receiving treatment from a London knee specialist while the club’s medical staff monitor his recovery. He withdrew from Brazil duty and missed Chelsea’s 3-0 loss to Brentford after experiencing discomfort following the draw with Hull City. The injury is not expected to be long-term, but his availability for Chelsea’s Oct. 10 match against Bournemouth remains uncertain. Pedro has made an influential start to the season, contributing three goals and three assists in four Premier League appearances. Chelsea are also monitoring injuries to several players, including Cole Palmer and Reece James.
Chelsea initially hoped Pedro would be fit to face Brentford after he felt discomfort in the days following the September 12 draw with Hull, but he was later ruled out.
Chelsea’s non-internationals were given time off during the international break, which allowed Pedro to receive specialist treatment while the club’s in-house medical staff monitored him.
Cole Palmer’s England withdrawal was attributed to muscular “pain and discomfort”; England coach Thomas Tuchel said Palmer had a genuine injury rather than withdrawing for load management.
Pedro has developed attacking chemistry with Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers, a combination Chelsea are relying on to lead the attack in Xabi Alonso’s first season in charge.
