Vancouver Canucks center Filip Chytil will miss the start of the 2026-27 regular season after being placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. He was hurt in Thursday’s preseason game against Edmonton when he collided with referee Riley Brace and went into the boards. General manager Ryan Johnson described the injury as a muscular strain and said Chytil is week-to-week, with no alarming signs so far. Chytil has played only 78 of a possible 246 regular-season games over the past three seasons amid repeated concussions and other injuries. Vancouver opens its season against Edmonton on Sept. 29.
