Kandla Breaks Ground on ₹2,300-Crore E-Methanol Plant to Support Cleaner Marine Shipping

A ₹2,300-crore, 150-tonne-per-day e-methanol plant is being developed at Deendayal Port in Kandla through a partnership between the port authority and Assam Petro-Chemicals Limited. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid its foundation stone. The project is intended to expand cleaner marine-fuel supplies, support lower-emission shipping and reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels. It is expected to create more than 3,500 direct and indirect jobs.
