Minecraft Dungeons 2 Launches September 29 With Connected Worlds and Co-Op

Minecraft Dungeons 2 is scheduled to launch September 29 on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC and Nintendo Switch platforms, bringing solo play and up to four-player co-op. The sequel replaces the original’s separate levels with an interconnected world, adds jumping and more vertical environments, and introduces the Sift, a new dimension where players confront the Illager High Council. Mojang has also expanded gear and character customization, with more options for building characters and an endgame designed to offer greater depth without requiring players to engage with every system. One review says the game remains close to its predecessor but benefits from refinements and creative loot, while cautioning that it may not win over players who disliked the original. The first paid DLC, with new locations and mobs, is planned for later this year.
Players can pre-order by September 28, 2026, for exclusive rewards such as a hero cape, a hero pet chicken, or a hero emote pack; the game will also be sold in Standard and Deluxe editions, with the Deluxe Edition including additional content.
The sequel supports online, couch, and mixed co-op, alongside matchmaking and expanded progression systems.
Buildcrafting gets more equipment slots: players can equip four pieces of armor and three additional talismans, compared with the original game's single armor piece.
Creative Director Måns Olson said players who avoid engaging with build systems may find late-game challenges harder as mobs scale up, though the developers do not expect players to perfectly min-max their builds.
