Novo Nordisk partners with Anthropic to accelerate drug discovery using artificial intelligence.

Novo CEO Mike Doustdar said the partnership would “supercharge” the company’s R&D organization and support its goal of delivering transformative health solutions to people with chronic diseases.
Doustdar said AI could “compress the path from research to marketed product” while creating new opportunities to reason about human biology and drug mechanics.
The collaboration will include AI solutions for areas such as biological analysis, in addition to broader drug-development workflows.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said AI could potentially “compress a century’s worth of biological and medical breakthroughs into a decade,” adding that the company aims to provide researchers with safe, capable and trusted frontier models.
Novo described the Anthropic deal as part of its ambition to become “the world’s most AI-driven healthcare company,” building on initiatives with other technology partners.
Novo Nordisk is partnering with Anthropic to speed up drug discovery using artificial intelligence tools. The Danish pharmaceutical giant will test Anthropic's Claude Science in its research labs to solve biological challenges and support drug development. Cryptopolitan reports the deal includes plans to build custom AI solutions for specific drug problems, while Novo expands AI use across the company.
CEO Mike Doustdar said the partnership would "supercharge" the company's R&D organization and help "compress the path from research to marketed product." Benzinga notes Novo already works with OpenAI and Amazon Web Services. Anthropic's Dario Amodei said AI could potentially "compress a century's worth of biological and medical breakthroughs into a decade."
Novo will start by testing Anthropic's Claude in select research areas. BNN Bloomberg confirms the company will use Claude models for biological analysis and broader drug-development workflows. The AI tools will help researchers reason about human biology and understand how drugs work inside the body. Data governance and human oversight will guide the collaboration.
Novo Nordisk aims to become "the world's most AI-driven healthcare company," according to TipRanks. The Anthropic deal builds on existing partnerships with major technology firms like OpenAI and AWS. This multi-pronged AI strategy reflects the industry's shift toward using machine learning to cut drug development timelines. Faster timelines mean patients get life-saving medicines sooner.
Drug development traditionally takes 10–15 years and billions of dollars. BigGo Finance reports Novo and Anthropic believe AI can compress this timeline. Anthropic's models can analyze vast amounts of biological data and identify patterns humans might miss. For a company focused on chronic diseases like diabetes and obesity, faster discovery means reaching more patients faster.
