Tony Romo leaves CBS as Troy Aikman and Greg Olsen emerge as potential replacements.

CBS Sports announced that Tony Romo will not return to the network, following his arrest on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The news comes after CBS placed Romo on indefinite leave in July following a series of criticism over several seasons. The company had no interest in entering another Super Bowl cycle with Romo as Jim Nantz's lead analyst. The NFL reportedly acquired an equity stake in CBS, making it one of the league's most valuable broadcast partners for the next decade. For now, CBS says future Hall of Famer J.J. Watt will remain Jim Naught's color analyst and has been elevated to the lead broadcast following Romo's suspension. The contracts of both ESPN's Troy Aikman and Fox's Greg Olsen expire after the Super Bowl in February, which Aikmann will call alongside Joe Buck for ESPN/ABC. If Aikmans is not re-signed, CBS could make a serious bid to sign him. If neither Aikam nor Olsen lands with CBS or Fox, Netflix could become an obvious contender.
