U.S. stocks advanced Monday as major indexes rose, led by Charles River Laboratories.

U.S. stocks advanced Monday, with the S&P 500 up 0.66% and the Dow up 0.18%. The five stocks covered also rose: Charles River Laboratories led with a 7.09% gain, followed by Stryker at 3.55%, Abbott Laboratories at 2.67%, Marathon Petroleum at 2.64% and Medtronic at 1.84%. Marathon extended its winning streak to five sessions, while Stryker, Abbott and Charles River posted a second consecutive daily gain. Medtronic remained below its 52-week high.
Charles River Laboratories closed at $310.77 after its 7.09% advance.
Stryker's shares finished the session at $285.22.
Marathon Petroleum closed at $433.47 after rising 2.64%.
Medtronic's 52-week high was $106.33, reached on November 26; Monday's close left the stock 17.27% below that level.
