Nationwide Healthcare Scholarship Opens Offering One-Time $1,000 Award for Undergraduates

The Dr. Ricardo Schwarcz Scholarship for Healthcare Sciences is offering a one-time $1,000 award to an undergraduate student pursuing a healthcare-related career at an accredited U.S. college or university. Applicants must submit an original essay of up to 1,000 words about patient care, their future contributions to healthcare, and medical innovations, drawing on Schwarcz’s work in critical care, pulmonary diseases, neurocritical care, and sleep medicine. Applications are due March 15, 2027, and the winner is scheduled to be announced April 15, 2027.
Applicants may be undergraduates at any year level; the scholarship is not limited to students near graduation.
Eligible academic pathways include preparation for medical school, nursing school, respiratory therapy school, and other healthcare science professions.
The scholarship aims to recognize students with a clear, sustained interest in serving patients and advancing healthcare.
The award is intended to help the selected student continue undergraduate education and prepare for a future healthcare career.
