Zelio E-Mobility has inaugurated a new electric two-wheeler plant in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, adding 60,000 units of annual production capacity and lifting its total to 2.4 lakh units, according to Economic Times. The 39,000 sq ft facility on Trichy Road is the company's fifth plant overall, joining four existing sites in Haryana, Odisha, and Tamil Nadu.
The plant currently employs around 30 workers. Zelio expects to add more than 100 jobs soon, with a broader target of surpassing 500 employees by the end of this financial year, AutoPunditz reported.
South India Push Drives Zelio's Biggest Capacity Jump
The Coimbatore plant will serve six southern states: Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and South Maharashtra. Its initial output target is 24,000 to 30,000 units per year, ramping up to its full 60,000-unit capacity over time, according to AutoPunditz. The expansion lifts Zelio's overall annual production by 33%, up from 1.8 lakh units, Electronics For You noted.

The plant was built with a capital investment of up to ₹1 crore, funded entirely from internal accruals — no outside debt. Company officials say the local infrastructure will also speed up after-sales service and improve dealer support across the south over the next 12 to 24 months.
