The Detroit Tigers defeated the Colorado Rockies 6-2. Riley Greene had three hits and Dillon Dingler homered, breaking a slump-breaking homer. The Tigers have now won three of four games after a 5-17 slide that left them out of the American League wild-card race. Colorado has lost eight consecutive road games, scoring only 17 runs. The win was secured by Framber Valdez, who allowed one unearned run on six hits and two walks in six innings. The teams will play the second game of their weekend series on Saturday.
