New Police Reports Reveal Welfare Check Conducted Weeks Before Hayden Panettiere's Death

A 911 report described another incident at Panettiere’s apartment on August 4: a man wearing a green polo, sweatpants and no shoes was reportedly trying to enter a unit. He had left by the time officers arrived, but was later seen going in and out of the complex.
Police were called back to the apartment on September 8 over an “ongoing issue” involving an unidentified man who reportedly refused to leave the building’s garage. Officers later contacted a man and a woman; the man “grabbed some belongings then left.”
Federal drug agents searched Panettiere’s Los Angeles home nine days after her death, according to the report.
The report says Panettiere died at a South Carolina Airbnb; Brian Hickerson and his brother Zach were present at the residence, according to the Daily Mail’s account.
Actress Hayden Panettiere was reported unresponsive during a welfare check at her West Hollywood home on August 9, just one week before she died at age 36 in South Carolina, according to Boston Herald. The check was triggered when someone worried she wasn't answering her phone and had become unreachable to friends. When deputies arrived, a person at the home said Panettiere had been sick that day, and AOL News reported she was unresponsive during the visit.
An investigation later revealed Panettiere died from the toxic effects of multiple drugs, including fentanyl. Press Enterprise reported that her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, answered the door during the welfare check. Panettiere later told a friend that Hickerson had taken her phone, according to the redacted sheriff's report cited by multiple outlets.
Police received multiple concerning calls about Panettiere's apartment building in the weeks before her death. On August 4, officers responded to reports of a man in a green polo and sweatpants trying to enter a unit without shoes. He left before deputies arrived but was later seen moving in and out of the complex, according to OC Register.
Officers returned to the building again on September 8 to handle what they called an "ongoing issue" involving an unidentified man who refused to leave the garage. When contacted, the man grabbed his belongings and left, SB Sun reported. A woman was also present during that encounter.
Nine days after Panettiere's death, federal drug agents conducted a search of her Los Angeles home. The search suggested authorities were investigating the circumstances surrounding how she obtained the drugs that led to her fatal overdose, according to the sheriff's report obtained by local outlets.
Panettiere died at a South Carolina Airbnb where Brian Hickerson and his brother Zach were present, Daily Mail reported. Details about the exact circumstances of her death remain limited, but investigators believe the combination of drugs in her system proved fatal. The case has raised questions about her safety in the weeks leading up to her death.
