Darts Legend Phil Taylor Returns to Partner Adrian Lewis After Decade Apart

Darts great Phil Taylor, 66, is set to compete at the MODUS Super Series International Pairs Tournament in Portsmouth, scheduled for November 23–28, partnering longtime friend Adrian Lewis. Taylor, a 16-time world champion, said he would not have returned for anyone else. The pair won four World Cup of Darts titles for England and have not partnered for about a decade. Taylor retired from the professional ranks after losing the 2018 PDC World Championship final, but last competed at the World Seniors Champion of Champions in March 2024 and has been practising for the tournament. The event is set to be streamed free on Pluto TV.
Taylor said a painful hip injury contributed to his retirement from the World Seniors circuit two years ago.
Taylor and Lewis will compete in England shirts; their four World Cup of Darts wins came between 2012 and 2016.
Taylor joked that the pressure would be on Lewis, saying, “There’s a lot of pressure on him now. Let’s see how his bottle goes!” He also said he expected to feel nervous before settling in.
Lewis is a two-time world champion, having won back-to-back PDC titles in 2011 and 2012; he has also been away from the PDC circuit for several years, with his last Pro Tour appearance in 2023.
